It's that time of year when noses get stuffy and throats get scratchy.. it's got me right now! Yes, unfortunately it's cold season... The seasons are changing from warm to cool, the leaves are changing from green to the tones of gorgeous autumn. But our immune system seems to take quite a nasty hit at this time of year. I have been pretty ill over the past few days, not being able to do much but rest. Feeling pretty down and grey, I felt like I needed a boost. Colorful food is filled with nutrients and antioxidants which can help bring your body back to life! I made this RAINBOW superfood packed smoothie as one of my main meals, to soothe my throat and support my immune system. ​This delicious smoothie was created in my brand new VITAMIX with greens+ superfood powder, to make this smoothie extra healthy! This is a perfect meal or snack for yourself or kids to replenish the body with some much needed nutrients, while you are ill. This recipe needs:

1 large mason jar almond milk honey fresh pineapple frozen fruit: raspberries, blueberries, mango, banana (freeze your own) greens+ by Genuine Health freezer

RED LAYER - 1 cup frozen raspberries - 1/2 cup almond milk Blend on medium speed until fully combined. Slowly pour red layer in the bottom of a large mason jar. Keep in freezer until next layer is ready. Quickly rinse the blender with cold water for next layer.

ORANGE LAYER - 1 cup frozen mango - 5-6 frozen raspberries (use more yellow, and add red as you need it. Or use orange fruit if you have it) - 1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice Blend on medium speed until fully combined. Slowly pour orange layer on top of the red layer, avoiding the jar walls. Keep in freezer until next layer is ready. Quickly rinse the blender with cold water for next layer.

YELLOW LAYER - 1 frozen banana - 2 finger sized sliced of fresh pineapple - 1/2 cup almond milk - 1 tbsp. honey Blend on medium speed until fully combined. Slowly pour yellow layer on top of the orange layer. Keep in freezer until next layer is ready. Quickly rinse the blender with cold water for next layer.

GREEN LAYER - 1 frozen banana - 1 tsp. greens+ mixed berry - 1 tsp. greens+ original - 1/2 cup almond milk Blend on medium speed until fully combined. Slowly pour green layer on top of the yellow layer. Keep in freezer until next layer is ready. Quickly rinse the blender with cold water for next layer.

PURPLE LAYER - 1 cup frozen blueberries - 1/2 cup almond milk Blend on medium speed until fully combined. Slowly pour purple layer on top of the green layer. Chill in the freezer for a few minutes before serving so all of the layers can properly set without combining. ​ Eat with a spoon or straw and ENJOY the nutrients!
