Homemade Almond Milk

You can buy almond milk at every grocery store or supermarket out there! But many almond milk products on the shelves today contain only 3% almonds! How is that possible?! Its almond milk!!

Well it is filled with preservatives and additives to give it that creamy almond flavor. What if I told you that making your own almond milk is easy, fast and can be cost effective!

Buying organic almonds is important when making almond milk due to the fertilizers that they are sprayed with, you don't want to drink that do you?! So buy organic almonds in small almonds to save your wallet! You can use almond milk when having cereal, baking, with a protein shake or on its own! This recipe is also great for vegans!

 

Ingredients:

- Just under 1 cup of almonds - 3.5 cups filtered water - 1 tbsp. of maple syrup (I use Canadian, organic)

You will need:

- Blender - Cheese cloth (for filtering) - Fridge

 

Un-soaked & Un-peeled Soaked & Peeled

1. Soak 1 cup of almonds overnight (12 hours) and peel the skins off. 2. Once peeled place almonds, filtered water and maple syrup in the blender and blend on high for 1 minute. 3. When fully blended pour almond milk into a cheese cloth to filter out any chunks. 4. Place in glass jars and leave in the fridge to cool!
